About
My name is JJ and I am a nonbinary United Methodist pastor with a handful of master’s degrees and a love of creativity of all sorts. This space is inclusive and welcoming of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, and faith systems, and does not apologize for it. I believe that God is ever creative and expansive in love, but I do certainly believe that there is a triune God with the faces of Creator, Christ, and Spirit.
The Church has done a bang-up job of hurting a lot of people, and I am not unaware of how this makes a lot of folks suspicious about people who work for it. If the only thing I do with my career is tell people that God loves you no matter what the Church said about it, that is a fine way to spend a life. However, there are so many other nuances to that—what grace looks like, how forgiveness is complicated, whether our purpose is to destroy evil in Mount Doom by any means necessary. I am here for the theological conversation, and the fandom conversation, and the places those two things intersect (there are so many places because faith, too, is a fandom of sorts). Please bring respect here; I am not stupid because I am Christian, and you are not unwelcome if you are not. After all, Redwall Abbey is a pretty big place and there is a feast for all.
